    1.8 36/30 Guide Discussion Thread

Use this thread to discuss the 36/30 guide I have, as part of the second half of [1.8] Rexer's DPS Guide (Single Target). It is dumbed down for the sake of complexity, so if you have a suggestion for how to make it higher dps, make sure it does not also increase the complexity too much. The main idea behind this system is that you dont have to worry about charge management at all (you could remove the charge bar and be good to go).

So has SV been dropped from the 36/30 rotation? Even at a lower priority than all the other dots? Did it get nerfed that hard?

I added it back in after doing some testing. Now that I think about it, it would make more sense to remove DT because you dont want to loose the endurance buff, and SV will end up doing more damage overall because you cast twice as many.

I'm just going to say "if you are new to the rotation, try leaving out DT until you get good at the rest of the rotation". And I'll try doing long parses with and without DT to see what the difference is. It's suppose to be a low complexity method, so going from 4 dots to 3 would be worth it if the dps loss is low. If anyone wants to do parses with and without DT, it would be very helpful.

Hi Rexer. Thank you for taking the time to make this guide. I have been using 36/30 since 1.6, so I am quite familiar with it. I made the build integrating Life Leech before looking at your build and the only difference I came up with was I dropped the last point in Magical Affinity to max out Improved Mage Armor. So, my question to you is have you done any testing to differentiate between a 5% extra charge generation as opposed to a flat 2% damage increase? I would think there are not issues with charge using this build. Comments? Suggestions?

Potter- you have a good point, I'm almost positive you will pump out more dps with 5/5 imp mage armor. I've adjusted the guide to reflect that.

This is the exact spec Ive been using since 1.7, with one minor change... -1 point to Firestorm and +1 point to Magical Affinity, making it 35/31. After all, this is my Single Target DPS spec, and I don't feel that using Devouring Shadows over Firestorm has hampered me in any way. Sure, I miss out on 1.2% Fire Damage that I would have gotten with Burning Bright, but in its place I'm getting 5% more charge, so I get to use IC more often. This makes sense in my head anyway. With the 1.8 buffs, I'm really eager to see my new numbers. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this Rexer.

With the changes to SL:dmg you shouldn't need any points in MA to keep IC and SL:dmg up at all times, so the spec should look something like:

If using the DB Greater then move one point from IGoP to DB. And can move the point from Fire Storm to IGoP of course. Withering Flames should be included as well now. As suggested by LGW it works with something like: 0 (charge): SL:dmg - 80: Withering Flames (which uses your charge) - 100 (when back at full): IC - 0: Repeat starting with SL:dmg.

Calmethar- If you read my guide, you will find out that the rotation we are talking about does not use sac-life, other than at the beginning of HW. The whole point of this method is to make an easy rotation. If you want to use sac-life and IC in the most effective way possible, you might as well add in defile and do 38/28

This build seems quite wrong. The most important thing about LL, is that it can be refreshed using VB. To do that tho, you need 2 points in Lingering Pain, that you completly ignored. Plus, why ignore SLD? IMO, put 2 points in improved Void Bolt, 2 points in Lingering pain, and, if you want an easy life, make an A->B->A'->B' kind of rotation, once letting your charge run off, and the other using SLD.
What are your stat, and can you please post a parse of the rotation and build you suggested? It really seems subpar.

Regarding the "you may even go 38 28" : having defile on a heavy movement fight is a pain, because charge becomes a pain. 36 30 is supposed to be the easy build you can use blindfolded, that means, it can be used while learning a boss mechanics ( ideal with ID's opening).

@Calmenthar : LGW suggested to use that build with 1 point in defile, and the lock greater. otherwise, he admitted 36 30 would have been better.

Where did you see him admitting that?

    1) Without WL greater you should be using 35/31, as I already mentioned above.
Seems to agree with what I'm saying. Even his last post in this thread: http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-gene...0-1-8-a-5.html

But the mobility isn't as bad in the Defile 38/28 by now, since it doesn't take much focus not to let your charge drop with SL:dmg and IC cycling. So the spec is just as mobile as the HW Pyro/Lock if not a tiny bit more due to the addition of LL, VB and WF with already having static periods with HW. The ABAB kind of rotation seems like a decently good idea for an easier rotation though.
