This covers the details for the Bluedots Guide Writers Contest.
To enter the contest the original author must submit a guide to the Guide Writers Contest Entries forum on http://bluedots.org. The subject of the guide must be about some aspect of the video game Rift: The Planes of Telara.
The definition of a guide as it pertains to this contest is: Any compilation or information that attempts to teach the audience about the game Rift.
The contest will award the authors of the best guides in each category. The categories are:
The categories are very broad and can cover just about anything.
- Player vs Environment
- Player vs Player
The winner will be decided by public poll at the end of the contest.
The format of the guide can be in anything that is considered widely available which may include:
- Written text.
- Video (submitted via YouTube).
- Or any combination of the above.
Contestants may submit their guides starting February 13th, 2012 until Monday, March 5th, 2012. A public poll, for each category, will be held from March 6th until March 13th to determine the winners. Contestants can submit multiple guides, and compete in multiple categories. However, an author may only win 1 prize. If an author submits multiple guides, their guide with the most votes will be the only guide considered for awarding a prize.
The first place prize will go to the author who received the most votes in their category.
The second place will go to the author who received the second most votes, and so on.
Each category has 3 in-game item prizes.
The items are:
Hooty the Owl
Spaulders of Earthen Might
Cookie the Bogling Chef
The first place in each category will choose 1 of the 3 available in-game items. The second place in each category will choose 1 of the remaining 2 available items. The 3rd place in each category will be awarded the remaining item.
To vote on a submission, users must register a completely free Bluedots account. This will require a valid email. Each user may vote once in each category.
Reasons for Disqualification
Submissions may be disqualified if they are found to be:
Vulgar, or inappropriate.
Widely inaccurate or containing no informative value.
Plagiarized or submitted by someone other then the original author.
Containing illegal content. (Violating copyrights)
Violating Trion Worlds Terms of Service.
Upon submitting a guide to the Bluedots Guide Writers contest you are granting Bluedots Guides exclusive publishing rights to the guide. The guide must only be publicly available on Bluedots.org by March 5th, 2012, and remain exclusively on Bluedots.org until the contest closes on March 13th, 2012.
The only exceptions are if the guide was published to the Official Rift Forums, before it was submitted to the Bluedots Guide Writers Contest, or if you use YouTube to host a video. Publishing the guide in private, such as on a guild website, will not disqualify the submission.
